this is going to be short because i'm pretty tired and i promised the next blog would be a happy, uplifting one and this definitely isn't that.
(btw, who am i promising? i'm pretty sure NOBODY reads these things. well, maybe some people hired by the bush administration because once i voted for al gore in the 2000 election, all of a sudden my voter registration was revoked and i had to do it again. coincidence? i don't know...)
i don't have love figured out by any means. sure, i can give advice, but when it comes to my own love life -- or just relationship life, i guess -- i'm like a tadpole trying to swim in the deep end, just floundering about, trying to touch the bottom so i don't drown.
i can't get her out of my head.
i keep trying.
NOTHING is working.
not that i really want to forget her or anything that happened, but in order to remain a sane individual, it's best that i try to. i hope someone understands that and that i'm not mad already.
if i had my way...well, i'm not going to say what would be different. but things would be different.

i could use some good news
so...yet another possible employer let me know that despite my "great qualifications" and "immense potential" and "obvious skill," i wasn't quite good enough to work for them. it's funny how often i've heard that in this whole process. not really funny "ha-ha," but funny interesting that kinda leaves you wondering if you'll ever be good enough. it's the fourth or fifth place to let me know they loved me...just not enough to hire me. good times.
it follows along a nice little pattern that i'd rather not discuss. so yes...
it seems i only use this blog for bad times. my other one gets much more love. neglect is never good. i'll try to redeem myself and much like my good friend (and best friend's fiance) holly snyder, be more entertaining. my dronings are enough to give someone a personality disorder.
oh! one good thing...i'm going to the dodgers game on wednesday! let's hope it doesn't get rained out. there's a system supposedly coming through that day.

i got it bad
it's 3:38 in the a.m. and i can't get her out of my head. eloquence left long ago. all that remains is her.
that's not a problem. it's the distance that i wanna do away with. ugh.
february can't come soon enough, that's all i know.

I'm tired...
...of a few different things, but I won't get into that now.
I'm tired of feeling unappreciated at work, ostracized with some far-out desk even though I used to design the entire section every night.
I'm tired of hearing no and getting the "good luck" pat on the back.
I'm fed up of feeling inadequate with this.
I need a vacation...I've got 47 hours available right now. I could use a week in Monterrey or Salt Lake or maybe somewhere I've never been. I just know that if I don't take some time off soon, I'm going to pop.

Al Gore: The Intrepid
Ever since he came out with An Inconvenient Truth, Albert Gore has been thought to be simply using that movie as a catapult back into the political ranks.
It's been talked about on reputable cable and network new channels (and even FOX News!) that he was going to do his little nationwide movie tour and then upstage the other Democrats as he laughed, joked and even danced his way to the party vote. Basically, they thought the only reason he did it was to remake himself into a kinder, friendlier, less robotic Al Gore.
But then a funny thing happened on his way to the election: he came out with a book.
Then he went on another tour, just to promote it, talking about the detrimental effects of the American lifestyle on the environment. He even got the Pope to admit that global warming is, indeed, a reality.
It's pretty hard to run for president when you're trying to save the world.
And today, he was rewarded for his efforts.
Again, the pundits are saying again that he'll use this to crash the Hillary vs. Obama vs. Edwards vs. A Bunch Of Other Guys Who Really Have No Realistic Shot But Are Fun To Listen To For A While Until They Run Out Of Money parade.
If you'd just won (a share of) the Nobel Peace Prize, would you then go put yourself through a grueling political campaign only to be torn down by the same people who used to support you?
Exactly.
I wouldn't either.
So, here's to hoping Mr. Gore makes the wise decision and stays out of the political arena. I don't think there's any coincidence he looks happier now than I ever remember seeing him while he was No. 2.
Cheers to happiness.
And cheers to you Al Gore.

yippie kayayeyay...
so, turns out bruce willis has not only made a career of playing a rough-and-tumble cop who doesn't alway play by the rules. apparently, he's also a pretty marginal singer who had a CD made in the 80's. i don't understand how this is the first i've heard of this, but i thank late-night Soul Train reruns for enlightening me last night.
i give you...bruce willis the musician.
respect yourself
from the album the return of the bruno
i kid you not.
here's the proof:
you're welcome.
